Jesse H Jones Nature Park
Dig in the white sand along Spring Creek, walk along a trail with your family, picnic under the trees, and visit the interesting Jesse H Jones Park and Wildlife Center, which features a live snake exhibit. There’s also a cool recreation of a pioneer homestead, with a log cabin, smokehouse, root cellar, chicken house, pioneer garden, bread oven, outhouse, barn, corral, woodworking shop, and blacksmith shop. Next door you can explore a recreated Akokisa Indian Village and a "mountain man" camp.
Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens
Visit the butterfly house, get close to koi in the pond, and check out all the plants of Texas, including meat eating plants.
Deer Ridge Park
Feed the ducks, picnic with your friends, climb trees, play ball, and go wading in the pond.
River Grove Park
Take a boat trip on Lake Houston, go fishing with a friend, play ball on the soccer fields or have a picnic with your family on the soft green grass.

There’s a lot for families to do together at this park in Humble. The children’s playground is the best in town and you can join organized teams in Little League, Pee Wee Softball, soccer, swimming, and volleyball.
Atascocita Parks
This well-planned town has a park and swimming pool for each suburb, and plenty of tennis courts and recreation centers too.
Lindsay Lyons Park/Sports Center
Play ball on the athletic fields, climb and swing on the playground and have a barbecue with your family and friends in the pavilion.
Lake Houston State Park
Fragrant piney woods surround the placid waters of Lake Houston in this lovely state park about 10 miles from Kingwood. Visitors can camp in tents or lodges, ride horseback, go hiking and canoe on the lake.

Educational Day Camps
Whether you are into science, art, sport, or acting, there is something on for your age group in the Houston area this summer. Check out the events in Kingwood, Humble and Atascocita.
Camp Inventions
Great science and creativity day camps focus on inventions you can design and make yourself. Day camps are held all summer long in various locations around Houston and the Kingwood area.
Camp Arrowhead
Make lifelong friends at this non-denominational Christian camp for girls in the Texas hill country near Hunt. Swimming, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, art, craft and more are offered, and girls design their own curriculum.
YMCA Camp Pine Tree (ages 5 to 11)
One of the nicest things about this camp is that it is exclusively geared towards younger children and their interests. Moral values like honesty, caring, and cooperation are taught in a gentle manner while campers enjoy most of the activities offered at a camp for older children, including horseback riding, swimming, archery, climbing, art and crafts, nature studies, canoeing, music, fishing, and sports. The 10 to 11 year olds also have a comprehensive rope course.
YMCA Camp Cullen (ages 8 to 16)
This excellent co-ed camp on Lake Livingstone offers a lot of fun activities and a supportive team atmosphere. Judeo-Christian.
YMCA Camp Hamman Ranch (10 to 16)
Girls and boys can choose which high adventure they want to explore, picking from one of four: River Ride, Old West, Mountain Biking, or Cliffhanger.
